Hamptons-style kitchens Gold Coast

THE HAMPTONS STYLE IS A MODERN TAKE ON BEACHSIDE LIVING. The bright, casual feel, with an elegant and refined style, is a great fit for any Gold Coast home. Inspired by the seaside lifestyle of The Hamptons, Long Island, a Hamptons-style kitchen reflects a classic coastal look and is designed to transcend time.

From Hope Island in the north to Coolangatta in the south and west to Tamborine – the entire Gold Coast region – there is a quality of life and sense of style that is unique to the whole of Australia. Brett Turéi, KISK Kitchens Gold Coast design consultant, suggests there are 4 points to consider when embarking on creating a Hamptons-style kitchen to ensure it will be relevant to the ‘Gold Coast’.

1. Colour palette

Hamptons-style kitchen designer Gold CoastWhite is the go-to choice when designing a Hamptons-style kitchen. White is loved for its light, reflective quality. However, kitchen renovators should also consider blue, green or grey-painted cabinets which can provide an interesting alternative to white. Blue, green, or grey cabinetry can also work particularly well in Gold Coast kitchens as it picks up on the colours of the ocean.

Black is also becoming very popular as it introduces a slightly more formal look. Balanced with white or subtle shades of grey, black can soften the starkness of bright spaces that are blessed with lots of natural light. Search in Google for ‘black, blue or grey Hamptons kitchens’ to get some ideas.

2. Frame or panel cabinetry

Traditionally, kitchen cabinets were constructed with a frame around the panel. These cabinets are popular in Hamptons kitchens because of their solid, traditional lines and detailing. In the KISK Door Face Style range we named this style as ‘Hampton’ for this simple reason: it is clean and sharp. For people who are renovating an older style home and require slightly more detail, our ‘Cape’ or ‘Byron’ styles prove very popular. When planning your kitchen consultation also consider including open shelves and wall mounted glass front cabinets. These are a great way to show off your finer kitchenware while at the same time adding to the Hamptons vibe.

3. Marble benchtops

At KISK, we use Quantum Quartz ‘Designer Stone’. The two most popular types are Bianco Ventato and Venatino Statuario, with bold veins. For those seeking subtler veins, Statuarino and Gioia would be the most likely choice. To complete the marble benchtop the edge profile needs to be considered; again, for those in older style homes after detail choose 20/20 Half Round in 40mm marble. Those with less detail run with 20mm Bullnose or Pencil Round profiles.

4. Detail and decor

Something as simple as the tapware is often overlooked. Consider your kitchen mixer tap to be a focal point, it can either compliment, blend or be a statement. For statement lovers, KISK is suggesting a black kitchen mixer to be very on trend, however, it will need to be balanced with black handles, appliances or tile detail. For people who like to play it safe, chrome is still the go-to and the range is vast. If you choose chrome, the handles on your door/drawer fronts should be chrome too.

Other touches that can be added upon completion of your kitchen include oversized pendant lighting over an island bench, classic bar stools, and authentic surf or beach memorabilia – these will complete the Hamptons look.
